GOD, The Sovereign Creator, Our Father

GOD, Jesus The Christ, Our Redeemer

GOD, The Holy Spirit, Our Comforter

Step into a house of worship where traditions meet updated religious instruction to impart relatable spiritual guidance. You'll discover how this progressively unique church community fosters hope through collaborations with other mental, physical, financial, social and of course, spiritual health focused organizations and individuals to provide its members genuine connections and warm, compassionate services. The simple, quiet interior of this century-plus sanctuary immediately disarms any attempts to impress anyone, or maintain ill-will. The scent of frankincense and myrrh with pre-worship instrumentals greets all, to invite personal time at the altar rail or just sitting to take the time to shed one’s cares and intentionally turn and lift one’s mind and heart upwards and into God’s hands.
Because John 3:16 is just one of the scriptures we take seriously when it comes to God’s unconditional love, grace and mercy for all humanity, you'll learn spiritually aligned, practical guidance and tools on how to engage life and interact with all regardless of race, color or creed without self-shaming, suppressing and sacrificing your own culture or ethnic identity. While we claim the “Black” church category, in essence we are a mosaic of multiracial and multicultural family backgrounds with markers in Africa, The Middle East, Europe, The Americas, The Caribbean and Asian-Pacific communities.
Steeped in tradition and collective spirit, Stephen Chapel has long served as a cornerstone of African Methodism in Gause, TX by modeling the faith of its faith tradition's founder and first Presiding Prelate, Bishop Richard Allen, and supporting the fellowship imbedded in the structure and focus of its auxiliary groups and district-wide special events. Its historical roots reveal a journey marked by 137 years of resilience and community involvement which has evolved along with the town. Over the years, generations have contributed to a timeline that stands firm in honoring God and showing love to its neighbor with Bible-based teachings ranging from basic to complex along with Holy Spirit assigned and led outreaches that comfort and invite the deceived backslidden and misinformed, disinformed seeker to courageously use critical thinking skills for the sake of powerfully securing their salvation.
While faith and science may seem like two opposing concepts, the fact is, we cannot have one without the other, regardless of whether or not we acknowledge that God is real, alive and active in humankind's life. Science can explain the how, while faith can provide the why. Then, when you add the arts and linguistics, that just makes it even more interesting, because creating beauty visually, musically, botanically and even structurally while exercising the ability to communicate in a language only understandable between some people can only be a God thing. And if you're going to enjoy this one life you've been given while we're cheering you on, it can't be done any other way than in a way your celestial Creator designed - and designed just for you, so that your eternal crown fits you just right.
We genuinely want you to be firmly on God's side, safely in God's circle and a solid part of God's family, now AND forever, so prayerfully, we'll see you soon!
